Speculative fiction writer.

Mercy Calder is a writer of fantasy, sci-fi, and other speculative fictions. Her interests connect the natural world with the new mythologies we create through politics and catastrophe.

Her work (writing as CY Ballard) has appeared in Lightspeed Magazine and won 3rd Place in the City in a Wild Garden: Stories of the Nature of Cities contest anthology. She has been active in the Arizona literary scene, serving as a moderator for the Central Phoenix Writers Workshop and exhibiting at the Desert Nights, Rising Stars conference.

Her current in-progress novel is titled The Intergulf, a secondary world sci-fi/fantasy.
